Friend of the Arts Foundation (FOTAF)

Friends of the Arts Foundation (a self-supporting non-profit entity) has been a registered foundation since 2005 and became a fully-fledged public charitable foundation (registration no. 1698) in 2008

Friends of the Arts Foundation educates, nurtures and excites interest in the performing arts among the general public and young talents throughout the Kingdom. Part of the proceeds from Friends of the Arts annual events are invested in young talent for the future and donated to charitable organizations which work for the well-being of children and the community in the Kingdom of Thailand. Throughout the year the foundation stages performances to raise funds and encourage young talented Thais to perform in a professional environment.

Background Information

Friends of the Arts Foundation was formally established in 2005: H.E. Anand Panyarachun, Honorary Chairman of the foundation board.

UNESCO-Aschberg Bursaries and Dance Centre school of performing arts, our main sponsor, joint bursary program for dance established in 1997. Provide bursaries for upcoming International choreographers/dancers.

Since it was formed in 2005, the Friends of the Arts Foundation has been a key driver of the development and growth of the performing arts in Thailand. Focused primarily, but not exclusively on contemporary dance, we nurture young talent with essential training and scholarships as well as organizing dance festivals and events that allow professional performers and choreographers to gain wider public recognition and support.

Every year we grant 24 full scholarships for young talented dancers and performers to perfect their core skills during twelve months of intensive training in our academy. In addition, our Connecting ASEAN ++ program hosts regular workshops for teenage dancers from around the region and beyond. Graduates from our academy now form the majority of Thailand’s dance professionals who perform today to great acclaim on national stages, television and film.

Our philosophy of Education through Movement finds expression in the production of the annual International Dance Festival and International Solo Festival in Bangkok. Both these festivals attract dance companies and soloists of the highest caliber from around the world to share the stage with leading Thai performers. Designed to both entertain and educate audiences through cross cultural exchanges, the ultimate goal of the two festivals is to promote international understanding and tolerance though the sublime arts of dance, music and theatre.
